A Guide to Diamond Carat.

“A diamond is not measured by weight alone — but by the harmony of its proportions and the quiet presence it carries.”

Carat denotes a diamond's weight — one carat equal to precisely 0.20 grams, subdivided into one hundred points. The term traces back to the carob seed, whose remarkable consistency once served as nature's counterweight in the ancient gem trade.

Weight alone does not define a stone's beauty. Two diamonds of identical carat may present quite differently in the hand — depending on the precision of their cut, the breadth of their table and the setting that holds them.
