The Standard
What is the GIA?
Founded in 1931, the Gemological Institute of America established the universal language of diamond grading — including the 4Cs adopted by the trade worldwide.
Independent of any retailer, the GIA examines each diamond under laboratory conditions, issuing a report that documents its exact characteristics.
Why It Matters
Independent grading.
Certification confirms authenticity — that a diamond is natural, not synthetic, and that its grading is verified by a neutral authority.
For our clients, a GIA report is the assurance that what is offered, and what is received, are one and the same.
The 4Cs
The language of natural diamonds.
Cut
The discipline of light. Cut governs brilliance, fire and scintillation — the way a diamond returns light to the eye. The most consequential of the 4Cs.
Color
Graded D through Z, from colorless to faintly tinted. The Maison favors diamonds at the colorless end of the spectrum, where light passes unbroken.
Clarity
A record of a diamond's internal landscape. Inclusions are nature's signature — rarer stones reveal fewer, examined under ten-times magnification.
Beyond The Certificate
A document, and an eye.
A certificate records the measurable. It cannot describe the way light moves across a stone, or the quiet presence a diamond carries on the hand.
